VOSCON 2021 Innovation Award
“The main driver of innovation is unmet patient need” said Sophie Bakri, retina specialist and ophthalmology department chair at the Mayo Clinic. The award on “Innovation in Ophthalmology” has been instituted by the Vidarbha Ophthalmic Society (VOS), in 2024 by a contribution by the Organising committee of the VOSCON 2021 (the annual conference of the VOS held in Dec 2021). The VOS invested the money in a separate fixed deposit in a nationalised bank that would yield maximum interest annually. The interest amount would be used for a prize money, certificate and other expenditure. The Award would carry a cash prize of Rupees Fifteen thousand only (Rs 15,000/-). The award would be conferred to the best entry in the inauguration ceremony of the annual conference of the year.
The VOS will be under the obligation not to utilise this award money under any circumstances for any other purpose.
VOSCON 2016 International travel grant
The “International Travel Grant” has been instituted by the Vidarbha Ophthalmic Society (VOS), in 2019 by a contribution by the Organising committee of the VOSCON 2016 (the annual conference of the VOS held in October 2016), for young VOS members presenting their work at International conference.
The Award would carry a cash prize of Rupees Thirty thousand only (Rs 30,000/-). He / she would be awarded the same in the valedictory ceremony of the annual conference.
The VOS will be under the obligation not to utilise this award money under any circumstances for any other purpose.
Young achiever award
AWARDEE:
• He / she should be aged 45 years or younger as on January 1st of the year of presentation of the award.
• Among short listed candidates, the one with following shall be considered.
• Must have at least 15 Publications with at least 5 of these in Peer Reviewed Journals (along with Quality of publications and impact factor) as Pre-requisite.
• contribution to Ophthalmic Research and /or Social Responsibility.
• In case of non availability of the suitable candidate from Vidarbha, the committee may nominate a young ophthalmologist having contribution towards research in ophthalmology, of national / international fame.
AWARD:
• Shall be given every year in the annual conference of the VOS.
• Physical oration will be delivered in the Annual Conference of VOS.
• The duration of the Oration shall be 20 Minutes [ 5 mins-Ophthalmic Journey of the Awardee and 15 mins on any special work done by the Awardee]
• Award shall be presented during the Scientific programme in the award / oration Session with cash reward of rupees three thousand only (Rs 3000), a Plaque and Certificate.
• The awardee will be given travel expenses, local hospitality and complimentary registration for the VOS annual conference in the year of award Presentation.
